"Known all over London for being the city’s loftiest restaurant and one of its very few 24-hour establishments, Duck and Waffle is a destination du jour for the most glamorous of hungry late-night partiers. Although it constantly buzzes throughout its regular hours of service, dishing out small plates of ox cheek doughnuts, foie gras crème brûlée and the like, its star dish – the eponymous duck and waffle – is what sets tongues wagging after 3am. A crispy, fatty confit duck leg, already decadent in and of itself, is served atop a freshly baked Belgian waffle, drenched in a mustard-maple syrup and then topped with a fried duck egg."

Unity Diner is a great place to be, with beautiful decor in the form of greenery and fairy lights to set the scene."

"Earthling Ed’s non-profit restaurant Unity Diner deserves a spot on this list for the three epic burgers that don’t just taste great but help animals too. You can choose from the classic Moving Mountains Burger featuring ‘beef’ patties, cheese, bacon, and all the trimmings. There’s also the VFC Burger – a vegan take on the Southern-fried chicken patty with cheese, bacon, and a hash brown."

"St Albans midweek lunch tried to review the Mad Squirrel its first day of opening but timings didn’t quite work out as they were originally only serving food from 1pm. This week however they were ready to serve us early bird customers with a very enticing lunch deal- 1 pizza and a half of beer (really all you need at lunchtime, whatever your sozzled brain might tell you) from the standard menu for £10 each. For those of you not familiar with The Mad Squirrel, it is on possibly the unluckiest restaurant spot in St Albans, previously home to the Bakehouse, La Vista and No Moo Moo (which didn’t even stick around long enough for us to review it)."
