"This modern Chinese restaurant on Broadwick Street, slickly designed and eagerly staffed, is a great option for all-day dim sum year round, and their seven-dish Chinese New Year menu (on ’til March 4) is pretty special. The sesame balls filled with a salted egg-yolk custard are a real treat, the braised pork is ludicrously tender and melty, and the golden fortune prawns are mouthwatering too. The cocktails we tried were just the ticket to sharpen the senses (the Black River Martini is a punchy, purple Scotch + blackberry delight) and although I wasn’t wholly sold on the admittedly very pretty petit gateau that concluded the meal, my companion eagerly demolished both of ours, so what do I know?"

Cos Smokestak is all about meat – brisket, pastrami – in great smoky chunks or shoved, peasant-style – into buns with pungent sauces and sharp sides."

Available on Fridays and Saturdays, deliveries can be made within two miles of the Sclater Street restaurant, or collected if pre-ordered. Positioned on the 33rd level of The Shard – London’s tallest building by quite a stretch – a night at Hutong comes with a view of pretty much the entire city and its twinkling lights, as well as fiery pepper-packed Sichuan dishes. Head one level down at the Shard and you’ll find Aqua Shard and Oblix, a duo of restaurants with similarly stunning views and a little less numbing of the tongue."

Part of Sugoi JPN’s new Under One Kitchen project, set up to support hospitality businesses during the coronavirus crisis, the new site will open for dine-in customers post-lockdown. Until then, the brand’s unique ‘noritacos’ are available from all sites for both takeaway and delivery (within a 2.5 mile radius of each site)."

"Venezuelan chef Felipe serves Japanese-Latin fusion street food from a white trailer parked up outside Mother Kelly’s Taproom in one of Paradise Row’s converted archways. Signature noritacos wrap a mash-up of Japanese and Latin ingredients in a crisp tempura seaweed shell. Fillings include sushi salmon and tuna with pico de gallo, and Mexican-style chicken teriyaki with soured cream and avocado."

Master Wei is Guirong’s first solo project — following her joint venture, Xi’an Impression by the Emirates Stadium in Highbury, a tiny restaurant which has rightly earned cult status among lovers of regional Chinese food in the capital. At Master Wei the focus is on the region’s flour-foods, mianshi: peerless biang biang noodle dishes, with vegetables or beef and hot chilli oil; fine liang pi, cold skin noodles with a cool, refreshing, umami rich dressing, and the chef’s inimitable “burgers” with a cumin-spiced beef or pork filling."

This pizza outfit puts real heart into its traditional Neapolitan offering and ticks all the boxes for families with kids: prices are honest, flavours are true, there are plenty of vegan options for young converts and you can book in advance. Owners Angelo and Pasquale also specialise in premium toppings – try the san giuseppe with smoked mozzarella, rare-breed Yorkshire sausage and wild broccoli."

"Ealing’s homage to Naples and one of London’s pioneering Neapolitan pizzerias is still delivering from its original site (and from Chelsea and Fitzrovia, as well). Flash-cooking in a wood-fired oven blisters the crust of these excellent pizzas, while the interior remains chewy and yields spectacularly. Toppings are almost accessories, given the quality of the base, but there too, there’s quality — nduja, fior di latte, the tomatoes."

"Murger Han is a X’ian Chinese restaurant with branches in Euston, Mayfair and the City that seriously delivers the goods, and is super cheap too. The speciality here is Biang Biang noodles. They are made fresh in house every day and hand pulled by the chef into one giant 12 foot sheet and then cut into wide, thick strands before cooking."

"This is the third Murger Han and as in its other incarnations, they'll have a menu of Xi’an dishes made to family recipes with the Biang Biang noodles and the murgers themselves (slow-cooked meat in flatbread) being the biggest draw."
