"Sushisamba London offers a mix of Japanese, Brazilian and Peruvian cuisine on the 38th and 39th floor of Heron Tower, one of our favourite restaurants in the City. The menu features items from a Robata grill, along with a variety of ceviches and tiraditos, sushi rolls and numerous sharing plates. Sushisamba London has two large outdoor terraces, one of which has a stunning copper-coloured tree as a focus point above the bar."

"There’s no menu on walking in to this Jamaican seafood restaurant in Herne Hill, except the one stuck up on the far wall near a fridge. Actually, there’s no real indication of what to do. So here it is: walk directly to that fridge, and pick a fish — red snapper, bream, and sea bass among others."

"On the ninth floor of Switch House, the Herzog & de Meuron-designed Tate Modern extension, this 150-cover eatery is committed to celebrating all things British – produce is drawn almost entirely from the UK and even the beer is brewed in nearby Bermondsey. Save the mean-spirited size of side orders, it’s generally satisfactory. On my first visit, the chef and a well-prepped, hospitable crew did a good job of providing an accessible menu that has to satisfy both London epicureans and the five million or so tourists who ramble through this cultural institution each year."

"In July 2016 the Tate Modern, in London’s Bankside, a fashionable area on the Southbank of the River Thames, opened a new restaurant on the ninth floor of Herzog and de Meuron’s £260m Switch House extension. The Tate Modern already had one of the best London restaurants with a view but the new one has three-sixty views from the 10th floor. Consequently, it has truly beautiful views of St Paul’s Cathedral and the Millennium Bridge right across the river from your table."

"What better way to celebrate the end of lockdown than a peruse of the Southbank and a slice of pizza?. ": Row upon row of glass jars, with everything from tiny organisms, to strange two-headed beasts, to examples of gross diseases, this museum can be very creepy at times, especially when it’s quiet. However, it’s so much more than the freakshow that it is sometimes made out to be, offering a unique insight into the history of surgery and advances in modern medicine. The next few months are your last chance to see the museum before it closes in 2017 for refurbishment, so get going!"

"Another of the best free museums in London, and one of my personal favourites, is South Kenisngton’s Science Museum, covering various aspects of science and human achievement, from the exploration of space to the invention of modern digital technologies. Spanning multiple floors, the museum has a collection of over 300,000 items, including some amazing world-famous objects such as the Apollo 10 command capsule, Helen Sharman’s spacesuit(the first Briton in Space) and Puffing Billy (world’s oldest surviving steam locomotive). There are also a number of interactive exhibits such as a 3D IMAX cinema showing science and nature documentaries throughout the day."

"You could also really go museum crazy, and drop in at either the Natural History Museum or Science Museum, both of which are free. If you’re into pageantry, just round the corner from Buckingham Palace, and officially part of the grounds, the Royal Mews is a fascinating place to visit, and much less popular than its exhibits deserve. Finally, if you’re into afternoon tea, you can experience a fashionable take on the high tea experience at the Berkeley."

"At the Science Museum you can see a changing range of events, special exhibitions, IMAX 3D cinema, hands on activities and even simulators. Themes vary from to space and flight technology, to the energy gallery for 7-14 year olds, gaming and problem solving and engineering. For little ones up to six, the popular ‘garden’ is a hands on interactive space using water, light and sound."
