Book one of the squidgy leather window booths for the best views, and tuck into waffles topped with caramelised banana, hazelnut chocolate spread, vanilla ice cream and peanut crunch, or, go for the signature savoury one with crispy duck let confit, fried duck egg and mustard maple syrup."

"If you’ve not yet made your way up the Heron Tower for brekky, you must get Duck and Waffle‘s signature dish when you do. The combination of crispy confit of duck leg and a fried duck egg, both served on a crisp yet fluffy waffle, is surprisingly delightful. It’s topped with a tangy mustardy maple syrup for the perfect amount of sweetness alongside the savoury."

11 Incredible Vegetarian Restaurants to Try in London
"The first thing to be said about this homely, two-room East Sheen venue is that, although it is vegetarian, it uses some cheeses with animal rennet, including Parmesan — chef-proprietor Emerson Amélio de Oliveira strongly believes these have a superior flavour. That said, the eco-friendly venue, with sustainability at its heart, has by far the most inventive vegetarian menu in London. Oliveira comes from a Brazilian-Italian background; and this is reflected in dishes such as hand-made pastas and risottos, alongside the use of Amazonian fruit and veg."

"Chris Restrepo’s parents own Ichiban Sushi, serving carefully made sushi since 1999. Restrepo takes that tradition and refracts it through the version of Brixton he knows as an omakase, which he has labelled “yoroppa-mae” for its deployment of European ingredients. He might smoke tuna, or cure and dry-age hamachi; or he might put CBD caviar on top of mackerel."

London’s best Chinese restaurants
"China’s Uyghur population – increasingly persecuted in China itself – have a cuisine so unique and delicious that it is worth travelling to Walthamstow just to try it (and we don’t say that lightly). The one true outpost of their food in London, Uyghur cuisine sits at the intersection of Middle Eastern and Chinese cooking, bringing in familiar ways of cooking with brand-new flavours or familiar ingredients in ways you’re not used to seeing. Etles serves up all the classics of their cuisine, but the menu is not gospel: there are other dishes you might see coming out to other tables who are more familiar with Uyghur food."

The Best Chinese Restaurants for Takeaway in London

"China Tang was founded by the late, extraordinary Sir David Tang. Only he could have created a restaurant where the Cantonese food would satisfy the most discriminating diner and an environment where the Sultan of Brunei, Kate Moss and Kanye would all feel equally at home. We love this swellegant place and will always think of Sir David when we're here."

London’s best Chinese restaurants
"Don’t ask for the menu – there isn’t one - and don’t baulk at the bill (which there will be), because by the time you’ve gorged your way through the umpteen dishes spirited up from Chef Peng’s basement kitchen, you’ll have realised this Pimlico institution thoroughly deserves its not-so-secret fame. Chef Peng (that’s him, occasionally glowering from the top of the stairs, casting an approving eye of his necessarily tiny cohort of diners) has been doing his Taiwanese-influenced thing here since 1982, and if the signature “don’t ask, just get” service doesn’t do it for you (calm down, you can call a halt when you’ve had enough, or if it’s too spicy) then the celebrated wine list certainly will. Never tried a Gruner Veltliner with crispy frogs’ legs served with fermented bamboo shoots and chilli?"

London’s best Chinese restaurants
"Restaurants Chinese Chelsea. Visit this acclaimed but under-the-radar Chinese and you’ll be asked if there’s anything you can’t/won’t eat and what level of spice you like. After that, you’re in the kitchen’s hands as wave upon wave of progressively larger plates arrive, often with the distinctive taste of Hunanese regional cuisine."

The 15 Best Bakeries in London
"LBP was founded in 2010 by Nichola Gensler and Martin Hardiman, after a chance encounter at a roller disco party. The sight of one of its fleet of deli bikes wobbling around London is a thing of the past, but the name remains a sure sign of quality bread: sourdough’s chewy, deeply sour centre is offset by a burnished crust more caramelised than many are skilled enough to risk, while croissants amandes still proffer shattering dough and wafts of icing sugar cascading down with every bite. The plain croissant, once a London apex, declined alarmingly after the departure of two key bakers, but is now back up to speed alongside all the goods, in its dedicated shop in Pimlico, with delivery spanning most of zones 1 - 3."
