"No, you’re not going to put some raw tuna on a seaweed crisp and call it dim sum. Order from high-end Chinese restaurant Hakkasan in Mayfair instead. There’s a whole Peking duck."
"This modern Chinese restaurant on Broadwick Street, slickly designed and eagerly staffed, is a great option for all-day dim sum year round, and their seven-dish Chinese New Year menu (on ’til March 4) is pretty special. The sesame balls filled with a salted egg-yolk custard are a real treat, the braised pork is ludicrously tender and melty, and the golden fortune prawns are mouthwatering too. The cocktails we tried were just the ticket to sharpen the senses (the Black River Martini is a punchy, purple Scotch + blackberry delight) and although I wasn’t wholly sold on the admittedly very pretty petit gateau that concluded the meal, my companion eagerly demolished both of ours, so what do I know?"
"Dim sum fans, you haven’t lived until you’ve eaten at Michelin-starred Yauatcha. This isn’t like any dim sum restaurant you’ve experienced. A self-styled teahouse, interiors are sleek and contemporary, done out in wood and vibrant cobalt blue, and the all-day dim sum is, to put it simply, mind-blowing."
"A top Chinese restaurant in Soho, Yauatcha is home to some of the best dim sum that Chinatown has to offer. Serving up an extensive collection of Cantonese classics, this place is pairing its authentic dishes with signature sips and even has its own on-site patisserie."
"They do say heat rises: Chinese restaurant Hutong is for thrill-seekers who love a bit of spice with their heights. Positioned on the 33rd level of The Shard – London’s tallest building by quite a stretch – a night at Hutong comes with a view of pretty much the entire city and its twinkling lights, as well as fiery pepper-packed Sichuan dishes. Head one level down at the Shard and you’ll find Aqua Shard and Oblix, a duo of restaurants with similarly stunning views and a little less numbing of the tongue."
"Restaurants Contemporary Asian London Bridge. Like the original Hutong in Hong Kong, this offshoot halfway up the Shard is a glitzy rendezvous with amazing views, ersatz Old Beijing decor and a Sichuan-Northern Chinese menu. Tuned-in service and high prices come with the territory, but Hutong is a City date restaurant par excellence serving carefully rendered, offbeat food that’s guaranteed to jangle and soothe curious palates."
"Restaurants Contemporary Asian London Bridge. Like the original Hutong in Hong Kong, this London offshoot is a glitzy, high-end Chinese with magnificent views. It has the same northern Chinese menu, the same plate glass surrounds and the same ersatz Old Beijing decor."
"Meticulously technical and invariably delectable, A Wong's dim sum are on a whole different level of exquisite tastiness to any of the fashionable newcomers or Chinatown stalwarts. For the best experience, sit up at the bar and watch the chefs, largely female, in action. A Wong is, exceptional dim sum aside, an odyssey around regional Chinese food (Wong studied social anthropology at LSE)."
"Andrew Wong took over his parent's traditional Chinese restaurant in Victoria back in 2013 and proceeded to shake up the SW1 dining scene in no uncertain way, and it now has two Michelin stars. The 10-course tasting menu in the evening takes inspiration from Chinese history, but what you really want to do is come here for the lunchtime dim sum menu."
"Indulge in some of the finest regional Chinese cuisine at Michelin-starred A. Wong. This stylish Victoria restaurant draws on traditional recipes from all of China’s provinces as part of a 10-course tasting menu. If you’re looking for a more relaxed affair, it's one of the best dim sum London eateries."
"It may be a lesser known spot, but Chinese restaurant Min Jiang – perched on the tenth floor of the Royal Garden Hotel – boasts one of the best views in London. A hidden gem overlooking the picturesque Kensington Gardens, Min Jiang is renowned for its impeccable service, as well as its picture-perfect vista. Go for the house duck: a whole Beijing duck served two ways, the first with homemade pancakes, and the second a dish of your choice – fried rice, with diced or minced duck and a lettuce wrap."
"Find traditional Chinese cookery updated for the modern age at Kensington's Min Jiang. Although a great place for provincial Chinese dishes; many come simply for its wood-fired duck, which is served over two courses. Perched on the 10th floor of the Royal Garden Hotel, this stylish restaurant boasts views of Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens."
"One of the neighborhood's most popular international restaurants, this family-friendly place has been serving classic Chinese, Singaporean and Malaysian dishes since the mid-'80s. Contemporary Asian decor fits the diverse crowd well, and the menu beckons with dishes like lamb in Peking sauce, Thai green curry with baby aubergines and lemon grass, and wasabi prawns with cucumber strips. If it's nice out, consider dining at a sidewalk table."
"A big Kidadler favourite, Aldenham Country Park is one of North West London’s hidden gems and is set to reopen from June 20th!. Head over to the farm any day of the week from 9am to 6pm where you’ll find plenty of furry farmyard animals including rabbits, ferrets and guinea pigs. Aldenham are taking lots of measures to keep their farm attractions safe which you can find details of on their website."
"To escape the crowded streets and enjoy a picturesque, waterside side stretch of North London, take to the canals that once played such a vital role in the transport of goods across the capital. The towpath of the Regent's Canal also makes an excellent shortcut across North London, either on foot or by bike. In full, the ribbon of water runs 9 miles from Little Venice (where it connects with the Grand Union Canal) to the Thames at Limehouse."
"Since opening over 30 years ago, education has become a core part of Stepney City Farm, a rural oasis amid the bustling Tower Hamlets district. The farm caters to a wide range of different ages and interests: schools cake take part in projects such as potato growing and egg hatching, while adults can sign up to courses including bee keeping, rural arts and permaculture. Other initiatives include their Furry Tales project, which aims to bring different generations together and combat loneliness, and their Young Volunteers programme, whcih encourages 12-18 year olds to get hands-on experience of animal care and growing."
"Stepney City Farm, located in the heart of Tower Hamlets, London, has been going for 40 years and is a small but mighty three-acre working farm. This rural oasis is not only home to some furry friends (including donkeys!) but prides itself on its educational value, with an array of incredible initiatives taking place throughout the year. Stepney City Farm take their growing seriously - see if you can spot their magnificent, colourful allotments as you wander around the farm!"
"A farm has been here since 1979 and since then Stepney City Farm has doubled in size to 4.2 acres. Stepney Way, Tower Hamlets, London, E1 3DG. Tube: Stepney Green Station"
"London has a lot of the world’s great pizza cultures represented, but it’s yet to really delve into the Chicago deep dish with much gusto. Enter Japes: a Chicago deep dish-focused restaurant in Soho. What to expect: The best thing here by a country mile is the deep dish pizzas, which are like oozing tarts full of thick red sauce and glorious toppings."
