The 20 best museums in London
"What: Sky Garden may be known for its lush greenery (the perfect backdrop for an impromptu photoshoot), but its sprawling views of the capital are also worth a mention. The Sky Pod bar, which isn’t separated from the rest of the space, allows guests to stand around admiring the views or pull up a chair to rest their legs. All the usual drinks can be found here (including a selection of signature cocktails), while the food menu features sharing platters of charcuterie, seafood or dessert."
"If you guys have been following this blog for a while you may have realised that I am borderline obsessed with Sky Garden. I think it’s not only one of the best views and best rooftop bars in London, but it’s also very Instagrammable. The combination of stunning views over the rooftops of London, with modern architecture and green plants is a winner for me."
"A lush oasis from the chaotic pace of London, it will captivate children and adults alike. Spectacular 360-degree views, exotic plants and an array of dining choices await you, and admission is free!. Your visit begins with an online ticket reservation."
"When Chin Chin first opened their first place in a former condom shop (yes, really) in Camden their crazy take on making ice cream with liquid nitrogen may have been pre-Instagram but it was still an almost instant sensation. The thing is that it's not just a party trick, the ice cream they make here really does taste smoother because there are no ice crystals. They've also used their USP to devise a clever way of chilling ice cream down to a level that it can actually be sent by post."
"Must try: Griddled vegan cookie dough with burnt butter ice cream. Chin Chin is Europe’s very first liquid nitrogen ice-cream parlour and one of the best spots to discover some of the most unique and delicious desserts in London. Their exciting selection of ice cream flavours are frozen with liquid nitrogen in giant tanks, in a space that looks more like a mad scientists lab than a dessert parlour."
"The sweet treats get scientific at Chin Chin Labs, where all the ice cream is hand-churned with liquid nitrogen. Its short but inventive menu of regular flavours includes tonka bean and burnt butter caramel, with an array of topping options including bee pollen honeycomb and truffle crumble."
"This sister-owned Soho bakery looks sweet, but isn't saccahrine. Using no more sugar and fat than they need, their inventive and joyfully decorated offerings are delicately, carefully flavoured. Cutter & Squidge’s Dream Cakes make for jaw dropping centrepieces for your big celebration, or can also be enjoyed by the slice in house – the Lychee Kiss is an elegant flavour trio of lychee, raspberry and rose."
"Fun shop, fun website, inventive creations – two sisters established this Soho mecca and are always a step ahead of foodie trends. The sisters explain, “We are a bit health conscious and are not fans of overly fatty or sugar laden foods, so we always keep our fat and sugar content to “just as much as needed to make something delicious”."
"We wondered…"Can we vegan-ise our favourite blueberry lemon cheesecake cake?" 🤔 Wonder no more… we did it!!. Blueberry buttercream, tangy cheesecake and vanilla sponge 🍰 Head down to Soho today for a slice, also available online to order 😍. "East London hotspot Violet Cakes serves the best American-style bakes around, which is why Prince Harry and Meghan Markle asked her to create the cake for the Royal Wedding (Meghan is a huge fan and had already interviewed the owner, Claire Ptak, for the website, The Tig). The rustic café feels a bit like stepping into your cool auntie's kitchen. We could quite happily while away an entire Sunday afternoon here."

Famous for making Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's lemon and elderflower wedding cake, Claire Ptak's Hackney-based bakery Violet Cakes has a full menu of delights worth arriving hungry for, including artfully presented cakes, whoopie pies, blondies, cupcakes and biscuits – all made using organic and seasonal ingredients."

"Kova Patisserie is a small cafe specialising in Japanese patisserie and mostly known for their mille crepe cakes made multiple layers of French crepes and light cream. Get one of those and wash it down with a matcha tea for a full Japanese experience. They are set just off the beaten track of Soho and are a bit of a hidden gem."
"Specialising in handmade sweet treats with a Japanese twist, you will no doubt have seen their colourful Mille Crepe cakes on Instagram and salivated at the multiple layers of French crepe with a light custard filling in between."
"This mega cute bakery in Soho's backstreets goes to a whole other level of pancake indulgence with their epic menu of instagrammable mille-crepes."
"Branded as a café and not a restaurant, the variety of dishes that Tide Tables serves up is truly remarkable. Combining a mixture of gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan menus, Tide Tables also provides an extensive salad bar. Situated right next to the River Thames and under the Richmond Bridge, the café has a wonderful outside terrace in which you can bask in an early morning sunrise or evening sunset."
"Tucked underneath Richmond Bridge inside converted arches, the main attraction of this vegetarian café is its location and river views. Food is ordered at the counter and eaten outside on a huge sandy terrace overlooking the Thames ferry dock. There are a large number of pastry dishes, such as spicy Mexican bean roll, and a spiral filo pie stuffed with spinach and ricotta."
"Its large riverside garden is a fantastic location for watching the river and the world go by. Great coffee and organic food. The perfect stopping place for riverside walkers and cyclists."
"Black Sheep Coffee is a local London chain – their Wembley Park location is their 24th site in the capital, Manchester, and Manila (yes, in the Philippines). They’re all about serving up great coffee, visiting plantations to make sure the beans are top-quality and packed with flavour. Don’t follow the crowd – be a black sheep and grab a turmeric latte, a Coco-Bongo Shake, and truffle mushroom pizza."
"Who else is excited to sit and catch up with a nice cup of coffee?. Luckily, now you can. Black Sheep Coffee are reopening their outdoor seating area come 12th April so you can have that much-needed chinwag with your friends or family."
"The plush interiors, designed by Alexander Waterworth Interiors, are super plush, cosy and romantic. Sink into rich red leather sofas, enjoy a cocktail at the dark stained oak bar or (in the warmer months!) kick back in the foliage-adorned terrace and feel the love grow. Why is it the perfect romantic restaurant?"
"Patisserie Saint Anne is a cute and cosy little patisserie, based out in Hammersmith, that has over 20 years of experience in producing delicious cakes, pastries and chocolates. The bakers and pastry makers have definitely satisfied Malcolm Gladwell’s 10,000-hour rule and the proof is in the delicate viennoiserie they serve. Patisserie Saint Anne’s pain au chocolat and pain au raisin would give any Parisian bakery a run for its bakery with their selection of freshly baked gateaux being equally deserving of your attention."
"Since relocating to London from Paris in 2014, husband and wife team Alain and Keiko have made all their pastries, cakes, bread and tarts on-site so walking into this tiny shop always smells delicious. Patisserie Sainte-Anne has a genuinely boutique feel and the married duo work their craft with true passion. It’s usually full, and predominantly with French shoppers!"
"Getting Zijun Meng and Ana Gonçalves of Tātā Eatery to input their sandwich wisdom is pretty shrewd of Samuel Haim, the owner of this (soon-to-be) vibey restaurant on Old Compton Street. And yes, the chicken thigh in a pineapple bun with Sichuan chilli and cucumber salad is a stand-out, alongside a poached soy chicken, and a prawn “in” toast which riffs on prawn toast but more faithfully so on Taiwanese coffin bread. The poached chicken is the stand-out and the cocktails are excellent — and this place, which while nicely set up for outdoor dining is the kind of restaurant that will be its best self with loud music, dim lights, and people inside — is only going to get better as reopening proceeds."
"In a nutshell: Restaurant rejuvenated with a menu designed by TA TA Eatery. Working on the proviso that pretty much everything TA TA Eatery get involved with is worth knowing about, folk have already been flocking to this revamped Soho spot which had them overhauling the menu. Jay Rayner was an early reviewer, describing his meal there as "fun, reasonably priced and well-executed"."
"In a nutshell: Taiwanese fried chicken, innovative sides and strong cocktails Where is it?. 72 Old Compton St, Soho, London, W1D 4UN Why should you care?. Inspired by trips to Taipei, Mr Ji's founder has teamed up with the TĀ TĀ Eatery team to completely relaunch his Taiwanese fried chicken restaurant on Soho's Old Compton Street."
"07/05/2021: Went yesterday with the family for dinner, got a table outside as per Covid restrictions. Our waiter welcomed us, gave us the menu and described the monthly special. When we ordered, I wanted one of the burger without one ingredient as I didn’t like it."
